“Spread the Love” Feature of the Week: Carlo Alcos

In this weekly series, we like to take a few minutes to spread the love for those people, services and products that Rachel and I have encountered in our lives and in our travels, who and which we have come to admire, appreciate and support. Rest assured, we receive no direct compensation for the endorsements we make in this series. Our intentions are simple: to help like-minded people and organizations make positive and supportive connections.

Pilot Bay hikeWho is Carlo Alcos?

Carlo Alcos is a busy man.

Carlo is the Editor of Brave New Traveler – the spiritual and philosophical site of Matador Network – as well as a contributing author. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Matador Network, it is the largest online travel magazine in the world.

Additionally, Carlo is Co-Founder and contributing author for Confronting Love, a website and project whose mission it is to challenge the status quo of our ideas of relationships.

And as if that is not enough to keep him busy, Carlo also maintains a personal blog called Vagabonderz, where he explores our world, both outside and in, and seeks to find out what happens to us all when we don’t limit our options in life.

On his Profile at Matador Network, Carlo describes himself as a super easy-going guy who loves to live and lives to love.

Why I Love Carlo Alcos:

All my life, I have been an inquisitive and introspective soul with a passion for seeing the world. Somewhere around August of 2009, I first happened across the website for Brave New Traveler. I read the site’s tagline – “Exploring the Inner Journey Through the Outer World” – and I was amazed that something existed that so perfectly married my two greatest interests. I was hooked immediately.

In the time since then, my passions for travel and reading online travel writing have turned into full-on addictions, leading me to what I am doing now, and also to have read thousands of online articles spread across hundreds of websites and blogs. Through all of this, I can honestly say that no other individual’s work has proved as inspirational to me, nor resonated with me as strongly and consistently as that of Carlo Alcos.

What I enjoy most about Carlo’s writing is his incredible ability to remain perfectly honest with his readers and with himself, and his selection of topics, from soulful to the silly, remind me of the importance of the simple things and help me better explore the complex.
